you could try any of the following:
"wouldn't it be loverly" from My Fair Lady
pretty much anything from Phantom of the Opera except "think of me" and "the phantom of the opera"
"music of the night" from Phantom of the Opera--a great choice
"a whole new world" from Alladin
"one brick at a time" from Barnum
"the impossible dream" from Man of La Mancha
"one boy" from West Side Story
"ease on down the road" from the wiz
"believe in yourself" from the wiz--a really good choice
"alone in the universe" from Seussical the Musical
"notice me, horton" from Seussical the Musical
"way out west" from Babes in Arms
"shy" from Once Upon a Mattress
"the joy of motherhood" from Honk!
good luck, hope this helps! break a leg!

I know you said high school, but I don't know how old you're auditioning for so how about:
When You're Good To Mama - Chicago
Roxie - Chicago
The Gentleman is a Dope - Allegro
Spanish Rose - Bye Bye Birdie
Wall Street - Dames at Sea (tap)
You Can't Get A Man With A Gun - Annie Get Your Gun (Very distinct character)
The Life of the Party - The Wild Party
The Girl I Mean To Be - Secret Garden
My New Philosophy - You're A Good Man Charlie Brown (might be too high)
There Are Worse Things I Could Do - Grease
Good luck

"How Lovely to be a Woman": from Bye Bye Birdie
"Last Midnight": from Into the Woods
"Is this Home?": from Beauty and the Beast
or
"If I Were a Man": from Dr. Dolittle

I'd say
I Dreamed a Dream -Les Miserables (It's amazingly complex and touching, and if you sing it well, it's incredibly impressive)
By the Sea -Sweeny Todd (It's really upbeat, funny and Sondheim: Ruddy Brilliant)
Buenos Aires or Don't Cry for Me, Argentina- Evita (Both are wonderful, however difficult, I would recommend Buenos Aires, if you have the range, as it would be more unique, and impressive)

Did you try listening to Miss Saigon yet? I believe the lead character in there is an alto. Also, try Les Miserables... there are some excellent songs in that one--Fantine and Eponine are both alto parts. ("On My Own" and "A Little Drop of Rain".)

Do something from Chicago. "When you're good to Mama" is good, so is "Roxie".
If I were you, I'd learn a song from the musical you're auditioning for, preferably the part you're auditioning for. To a director, that looks good.
