Reagan led the way. All a president had to do was speak his lines. And now, with Shrub, you don't even have to be able to do that.

The attraction to power is the core value of all politicians, not just Hillary or Romney. For some, like Hillary, it's the only value that counts. So if Hillary, or Romney or Obama, or Thompson have to wear two or more faces to acquire power, then so be it. I just hope that I can wade through all the BS and pick someone that won't hurt the country more than help it.

When I vote, I normally grit my teeth and bear it...

''the process is so long that the only people who want the job are not the best for the job. A person who is actually doing something would not want to waste two years of their life campaigning for the job. After two years with little sleep are they going to be in the best of physical shape to run the country, especially as Hillary will be in her 60s. (I do not know Romney's age)

It would be interesting to find someone who has set their sights on being President of the United States who didn't have something a bit...ummm...different about their psychological makeup. Can you name any serious presidential contender in recent years who didn't have some serious "phony" component or other equally bad trait?

I didn't know you didn't like Hillary! My estimation of you as a patriot (already high) just jumped a foot! I'd be curious who you are interested in!

I'm going with Lieberman. No matter who or how the bar gets set, we have a responsibility to vote for the best we can according to our own knowledge and goals, preferably putting our country's well-fare ahead of our own ideology.

I hesitate to call them phonies. I will simply, respectfully, not vote for someone I don't trust to put our country first.

I can't say much about Romney. I haven't been paying attention to the Republican candidates.
