I need a cargo van to haul approx. 1500 lbs of cargo for business purpouses... which would be better- a large v-8 gas or a diesel and which maker... i.e Ford/G.M./dodge? Please help!!! Thanx!

I would say a Ford van (e series) with the turbo diesel.

Neither brand puts diesels in cargo vans. Buy a Chevrolet diesel and haul a trailer if you need the space. 1500 pounds does not warrant a diesel unless you travel 25,000 miles per year and plan to keep the truck for 500,000 - 750,000 miles.

Ford diesels get poor fuel economy. Dodge Cummins diesels are great but the transmissions are horribly bad.

Look into one of those funky dodge sprinter vans, supposedly good on fuel econ.
