My friend and I want to go, but my parents would have to take us and it's about 8 hours away. My parents don't want to ride any of the rides, but it costs $55 to get in. Instead of paying the extra $110 is there anything in Gurnee, Illinois to do or what are my options so we can go?

right across the street there is a huge discount outlet mall that they will love to go to see. i'm sure your parents would love to go visit that and have lunch there. There is plenty to do /movies to see / many restaurants to eat it. If they get tired go back to hotel ,take a hot tob break, eat a snack and then order a cocktail / relax in sun. you can all meet up for dinner.

There are very few rides at a Six Flags venue that I want to ride either; but, when I took my under-age children there, I rode what "old people" ride, went to a water show, a music show, and "browsed" a lot of shops. My children were expected to "check in" with me every two hours at a designated spot.

If your parents are amenable to leaving you and your friend all day at Six Flags without any supervision, then you don't have a problem. Personally, there is no way I would leave two underage "children" at Six Flags.

Well I am assuming that you will be at six flags all day.
Not sure about Gurnee but Chicago is not that far away from there, tell them to go to Chicago and do some sight seeing or something. There is an aquarium there that they would probably enjoy.
