Hi Girly,

I lost my period myself when I was a little older than you for over a year. I was in gym and my trainers were unforgiving. My doctor called it amenorrhea. To be simple, you're OK and your period will come back if you eat more fats. Here are excerpts from a couple articles you may like. Talks about the negative side as well. Hope this helps. Just know you can start your period if you slow down your training. Congratulations on your weight loss!

When the body weight falls below a certain level the ovaries aren't stimulated to release eggs and periods stop. This usually happens at a body mass index (BMI) of about 17.5, or a body weight roughly 80 per cent of average body weight.

If body weight increases above the critical level then the whole system gets going again(if you eat more fats). So periods will restart, but there's often a delay for the hormonal system to get fully into action and many girls like you will find that it'll be some months before their periods start.

Exercise may be enough to prevent periods from occurring.

A young female athlete who appears to be in top physical condition often has the highest risk of low bone density (osteoporosis) and fracture, especially if she experiences disordered eating and loss of menstrual periods.

plz don't listen to dan...unless he is a certified professional.

You do need to go the dr, but the pill won't necessarily fix the problem. rapid weight loss causes hormone levels to fluctuate. Your body needs to adjust to its new composition. All depending on how you lost the weight, the periods should return soon...but be wary of eating disorders...you wont see a period for a long time if you are losing weight the long way. the reason why the periods stop, is because the body understands that an undernourished body (or the illuision of one) will never sustain a pregnancy properly, so ovulation and mensturation stops.

Good luck hon.

Excuse me sweetheart, they are all wrong, since you just lost a lot of weight, I am guessing that you have been dieting and exercising much more than usual, or at least one of the two. When your body takes on an extreme change like losing 35 pounds, you are burning up much more energy just sitting around than you were before, so you need less food to function efficiently, but since you are also eating less you are not recieving the same amount of nutrients and calories that you were before, which can alter the flow of your period. Since you are still young, your period can be quite irregular, but I'm guessing that you still have been getting your period but just a much lighter flow because of your drastic weight change. It's likely that your period will adjust to your new weight over time but if it doesn't you should be happy that you don't have to deal with it.
If you are really worried still you can go to the doctor, but you don'r really need to go unless you are sexually active.

A doctor would know more about then I do,so maybe you should see your doctor. That way you can be sure you aren't having any problems with your body and get more information on why you may not be getting your period. But it is possible your body needs more time to adjust since weight loss can cause you to skip your period. For the most part, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Maybe you should do some research on your part to make sure it isn't.

People with eating disorders such as anorexia or bulemia often stop having their periods. It means you're bodies not working right because it's not how it's supposed to be. You've obviously lost more weight than you need to. The reason your body does this is because you're not healthy enough to have a baby. This means you need to stop losing weight and maybe gain a little of it back because you need to be at a healthy weight for your body. Don't starve yourself! If you're unsure about what you should weight, go to a doctor. Than will probably back up my theory and tell you a healthy weight. Good luck!

Hmmm . . . well, how old were you when you first got your period? How regular were you? It seems like your weight loss was spread out over nine months . . . so it's not like it was sudden or severe. Personally, I don't think you need to lose anymore weight if you're 5'7" and weigh 120-ish. However, not having your period for nine months is cause for concern and you should see your doctor.

When you're not getting your period,
the first place to look is for recent or continued weight loss.
The second place to look is whether you are exercising excessively. (like long distance runners on the track team)

If neither is the case, it could be hormones or an illness.

14yrs old and 5'7" 120ish is pretty low weight.

It's time to see your Dr. about both the periods and the wt. loss. Health is too fragile to lose.

Yes, for your height I would say you are under weight unless you are fat. Fat takes up more room than muscle. Sorry, but its true.
Just get toned as in muscle tone. You don't need to lose any more weight!
You are not having a period because you body's is all messed up with losing weight, yes your body does need time to adjust.
You sound just right weight wise....now get toned!
