put my volvo in park one day an now won't start>?>?? starts with a hotwire to starter though, what could it be?

If you selector is on the steering column then that where it's at. if on the floor then look there it will be connected to the shifter cable or arm you can see it move when moving the shifter so look around those spots. Try putting your foot on the brake then turn the key to start an move the shifter out of park to neutral move it around a little an see if the starter kicks in if not than your neutral switch is bad if it does kick the starter then it's out of adj.Good luck.

It could be the ignition switch or the starter solenoid if it clicks sometimes definite starter solenoid if you just get nothing could be one or the other. if it was the neutral safety switch it would not start even if you hot wired it,
