I don't think they do. The congress criticized the Iraqi parliament for wanting to take a break in a time of war, yet they constantly attack this President and this country AT A TIME OF WAR. Its double talk of the worst kind, it used to be America had a spine and stood united against a common enemy. Ultimately history will show that it was our self destruction, our implosion, that led to our demise. Not any enemy. When America is united no one can beat her, when she's divided that's when we always lose.

yes, much much much more than the Republican failures we've had in office.

"It used to be America had a spine and stood united against a common enemy"

That's a heck of a quote the key words (common enemy)

Seems the lack of support for Iraq is because every body is killing every body there does not seem to be a (common enemy)

For the Good of our country it is time to pull back and let the Iraq gov pick it self up.

And yes I do think the Democrats know how to put the good of the country ahead of their own self interests.

Got have some kind of hope.

Do you really think the current President puts the good of the country above his own self-interest? I do not. When someone repeatedly does not listen to the country, they do not care what the country thinks. The country does not support the war and the country does support stem cell research. Bush does not support this country. This country was built from disagreement and resolution. That is what makes this country strong.
Oh, and there has been disagreement in all wars America has been involved it. That is what make us America. Our rights and freedoms do not evaporate when we enter a war. That is when we have to protect them the most.

This whole question is nonsense. One of the reasons that Bush has gotten away with some truly horrendous things is that he's declared a "War on Terror"--a war that, by definition, will never end. He can therefore justify anything by saying, "We're at war." If there is any reason for an American "implosion" in the near future, it will be due to spending enormous amounts of money on a bad situation in Iraq and a "War on Terror" that will never end, while at the same time handing out enormous tax cuts that target mainly the rich.

It's the democrats AND republicans that are putting their own self interests ahead of freedom and American ideals. It's not just the democrats. Politics-as-usual in Washington has nothing to do with the needs of the nation anymore. It's sad but true. Special interests and desires for power are the name of the game and we just keep voting these jokers into office. It's time for a new party to run this country. A party that looks to the constitution - not their own selfish interests - for answers. Only the libertarians are committed this.

yes that is what they are doing now trying to put the interests of the people above those of the neo cons. It is known that the war is going to go on for a long long time we are building the world's largest embassy in Iraq and the Air Force is rumored to be attempting to build a base so that should tell you the real reason for this war and as usual with a republican mentality the only ones that win in a war is of course big business by providing what is needed to wage the war

The congress has every right to criticize the Iraqi parliament for taking a break. We are fighting a war for them. They should be getting their act together (which is going to be almost impossible). Why should our soldiers be in Iraq fighting and dying when the Iraqis think a month off is more important than figuring out how to run their chaotic country? They will use us as long as we are there.

Sadly no.

Not for most of the reasons you mention, through.

First of all, this is not a time of war. Congress never declared war. I realize the Constitution has been totally abandoned and that the actual laws don't matter, but we're not at war.

No more than have been for the 20 years of the "war on drugs". It's a marketing phrase that has no meaning.

But yes, "it was our self destruction, our implosion, that led to our demise." That I agree with completely.

I would go with you until the last Republican Cangress, they drove me from the party.

Their failure to pass 9 of the 11 appropiation bills that are required every year, and just use continuing resolutions to screw the democrats does not sound like putting the country ahead of party.

If you cannot critize a President in a time of war, the most important issue a nation has, then what good ifree speech?

Democrats have not had a clue as to how to put the good of the country ahead of their self interest for many years. The day after they are elected they start polling and campaigning for re-election. With the financing of slime like George Soros "Move -on" we are slowly moving toward the socialism that Soros wants. Realistic democrats like Lieberman are being **** on by their own party who are doing their best to undermine what is best for America.

I think the Democrats put their own self interests first. And I think the Republicans put their own self interests first, too. Our only hope is for a new Third Party. They all seem to be self-serving and only worried about their own future. They would have built that fence between the U.S. and Mexico otherwise. How many terrorists have crossed into the country? How many millions of illegal uneducated Mexicans can we absorb in our cities? Our Schools? Our hospitals? Our welfare system?
