I have been taking the shot for endometriosis and birth control for about 4 years now. I have gained around 20 pounds. I work out sporadically now and again and my food intake is about the same amount. I wonder what is the deal with all the weight gain while on depo. It could be that I turned 30, sure but It is significantly alot of weight and feel hungrier than ever even after I just ate. Hunger/appetite is way off balance I noticed.

I was on Depo for a few years and gained 30 pounds. I agree with you that it sees to throw off appetite control. since coming off depo I was able to take off the weight.

My friend takes the shots and she has seriously gained a ton of weight from it! she is eating and everything else the same as before. She said it will make the arm where the shot was given sore or numb for at least a week after the shot! It's much easier to just remember to swallow the pill!

Oh, dear Gaia, yes! I went off Depo roughly 10 years ago, after about three years on. I gained major weight and got horrid blinding headaches. I decided it wasn't worth not having my period and went back on the pill.

I too took depo and gain a huge amount of weight and started loosing my hair and i talked to my doctor about it and they told me that depo will cause you to gain weight and lose your hair. seriously i would wash my hair and find clumps of hair stopping up the drain. but i liked it because it stopped my periods but soon stopped getting it after becoming 150 pounds over weight.

I took Provera orally and gained weight from it.
