In Psychology, we learned a technique whereby we can actually make a person think he is making the decision himself when actually he is just responding to our stimuli. Well, that's what I intend to use a lot of as a parent LOL...just kidding. Seriously, my kids will have the freedom to choose their majors and their schools (college level). But elementary and high school levels, I choose.

I would offer sage and considered advice, expressed moderately and in careful language. And I would expect to be ignored.

Someone with a perspective of a few decades in the workforce generally has a little experience.

As long as they went to university and had goals, I would not influence them at all.

No ... my parents never influenced me so I was free to take whatever it is I wanted.

but i will not force them to follow what me considering they dont like the course, i will just tell them the benefit it will bring so that they will have some hint on what they should take... unlike what i did when i choose mine...

I for sure will give them advices but i would like to hear first their own choices, where they excel most, and then ill share my point of view. eventually, i want it them making decision for themselves.

I would give advices or suggestions but i'll still let my child choose what he wants & still support him on to whatever he decides..

let them choose what they want, and what is compatible for them... but don't forget to guide, advice and, share ideas and experiences as well...

i would encourage them to take 'badooy-avoidance 101' so they won't end up like the YAP regulars.
