Personally I squish it and then get itches all over regardless of whether there are more. :-) And then I'd shower thoroughly!!!
Generally there are more. If you have a pet, this would be a good time to get the pet de-flea-ed by using a flea bath and then collar for that type of pet. If you were just holding the pet, you might not have fleas in the house in general. But I would wash all bedding the pet used.
If you don't have a pet... and weren't near one... that would make me wonder where they are coming from. If I found another and a third, I'd probably get to the point of calling an exterminator. Though you can buy flea-bombs for your home... I haven't experience using them, though.

If you have a pet, give it a bath.. Any type of soap works including Dawn or dish soap just watch out for pets eyes.. Let the soap sit a few minutes and rinse well... I use Zodiac Flea/tick drops for our dog.. It's about $10 for a 3 month supply and apply to dog/cat once a month.. .Make sure you use dog drops on dog and cat on cat you can't use dog drops on cats.. Then sprinkle the carpets with baking soda/iodized salt it smoothers the larve and punctures the eggs.. As well as freshens carpet and attracts loose dirt..Let it sit overnight. Get a flea collar and put it in your vacuum canister/bag and vacuum the house really well. Wash any bedding that your pet sleeps on... If you want to check for fleas around the house, at night get a glass container white and put some water in it with a bit of dishsoap.. Use a desk lamp and shine it on the floor into the water.. The water gets warm and the light attracts fleas.. The dishsoap will not allow them to jump out.... If so, keep vacuuming and using the baking soda/salt.. combo.. In 2 weeks try the light trick if you are still getting fleas get Raid bombs and bomb the house... Don't forget to do the basement as well if you have one or the fleas will just "flea" down there... good luck

depends -- i would just kill the flea and than think where could it come from -- if i had a pet which i don't i would blame it.. sevin dust works wonders in the house on the pets (they can not be pg) and can be gotten at the local hardware store, also it is very cheap, most farmers use it on their livestock.

use dawn dish washing liquid. you can wash your hair with it too, but then use your regular shampoo after a really good rinse. dawn can be used to kill the flies on your pet, it works better than some of those expensive pet shampoos

I swim. If it is below my neck then they will sometimes let go. Fingernail polish can sufficate them. If you pluck them they head will stay in and it will get infected for awhile. A cigarette or a hot match can work as well. (I was talking about tics...sorry) fingernail polish still works.

Crush it with your nails!!
Fleas die in soapy water, so take a hot shower. Then flea-bomb your house!
