I like the displays that show me how to use the flowers in a bouquet. They have a few arrangements set up and then either sort the flowers by flower type (all the glads together, then all the mums, etc) or by color. Sometimes putting the colors together is fun, as you get to see all the shades of yellow or red or whatever next to each other.

I would put out a few of each variety in a display and have the bulk stored, so people can see a lot of different kinds all in one area.

On a supporting table or platform so passers-by can really see them [i.e., not on the ground] and group them in little 'instant garden' huddles...people are always impressed at a whole bank of flowers all together, plus the scent is heavenly when you walk past. The nearer the nose, the greater the sale! Greenery should be in there too, somewhere...sets off the colours better. A "Today's Special" wouldn't go amiss either...people always love bargains and stop to see what the "special" is all about.

Black plastic buckets of water are inexpensive and don't detract from the flowers. Have them set at different levels or set them up in a tiered circle. Group some flower types together at a special price for customers to chose a 3 for one price selection and put some arrangements together for impact and quick purchase.

I have seen them displayed in the old canning jars(the ones that had the rubber band and hinge) at a local farm stand and they sell them in the jar/vase. The jar gives it that old country look.
