The permits needed depend on the animal and the reason for having it. You can not get a license to raise most wild animals and keep them as pets. If you are raising them as game animals on a hunting preserve, or for their fur, you need one type of permit. If you are rehabilitating sick, injured and orphaned wild animals for eventual release, you need another type of permit. For some animals (like eagles and any endangered species) you need federal permits. For other animals, you need state permits. Just to house the animals, and to legally operate a business, you may need county and local permits as well.
Here is some info on becoming a licensed wildlife rehabilitator: http://www.owra.org/becoming.htm

I dont think you have to take college classes because alot of people in Utah have those animals and all you need is a permit, your right, but I do not know what permits you need.
I think it depends what state you are in as to what permits you need. I looked it up and it has diff. laws for diff. states and so I would type in "YOUR STATE wild animal pet permits".

you can apply for a permit to keep wild game through any Dept. of Natural Resources (DNR) location, in many states you may also apply at town hall.
this will get you started. you will have to provide proof that you are situated to properly care for the animal(s)

Call your local animal shelter and ask the permit department. usually it costs a lot of money per year plus you have to have a lot of land, usually fences in, to have wild animals. I think you also have to have some classes under your belt before they'll consider you, yes.

You can contact a local rehabber in your area. Most states require an internship before licensing you. They can tell you who to contact and what training you will need.
