I found an adult yesterday and then I found 4 more smaller ones in my "new" home (its 17 years old and was sitting vacant for about 6 months). What can I do to get rid of them besides sticky traps?

I agree with everyone else. Those kinds of spiders are very dangerous and can leave huge gaping holes in your skin. Their poison literally rots away your skin and if you get bit more than once or if you are a young child it can be deadly.
Here is a picture of just one bite on a victim:

Call the Orkin man now.

Brown recluse are incredibly dangerous. Get an exterminator and hire them as a routine service for your home. We have always had Orkin on a quarterly basis to spray inside and out no matter where we have lived to avoid any issues in whatever state we were. The problem with Recuse's is that they hide in dark places so you could stick your hand in and be surprised. You don't want to do that.

If what I've heard about this spiders bite is true, I wouldn't mess around, call a pro and have them clear the whole house.

you can call someplace like eradico, they'll spray for spiders or other bugs.

also, make sure that you keep your shoes upside down, and other standard advice for bad spider areas (they like to crawl in there).

There's spider dust you can get from commercial placeds, too - but I'd go for the industrial stuff tha tonly the companies can sell (they have to be licensed for it).
