You could rent a trailer instead of a truck or offer to trade vehicles with someone with a truck for a day.
You could strap the mattress or box springs to the top of your car and take them one at a time to the new place. Ferry the boxes a car full at a time.
Home depot has a truck for $20 for half or an hour or something to take purchases home you can rent that cheap.
Most of us with pickups would do it for a beer or pizza or even for nothing for friends, coworkers or family.
I drive a truck and 3 of us women coworkers moved a woman one night it was fun. We got to see her old place and her new place and were done in an hour or so.

sure, you can hire someone with a pickup truck. offer a little cash for their time and gas. any college or high school student will usually appreciate the extra cash. good luck

dont forget any retirees in your area that are in good health they also enjoy doing something and a litttle extra income as well.
