Total = 504
(1/4) x 504 = 126 total sophomores
(3/7) x 126 = 54 sophomore boys
126 - 54 = 72 sophomore girls
(1/3) x 72 = 24 girls that take French
72-24 = 48 girls that do not take French

Just keep dividing out the parts you do not need and you find the answer to this :
504 / 4 = 126 are sophomores. (take the total times 1/4, or divide it by 4)
(126 x 4) / 7 = 72 are girls (Since 3/7 are boys, the girls are 4/7 of the total, so take it times 4 and divide by 7)
(72 x 2) / 3 = 48 sophomore girls do not take French ( since 1/3 do take French, take the total times 2/3 for the answer)

48 Sophomore girls do not take French.

Total students = 504

Sophomores = 504/4 = 126

Sophomore boys = 3(126)/7 = 54

Sophomore girls = 126 - 54 = 72

Sophomore girls not taking French = 2(72)/3 = 48

1/4 of the students are sophomores: 1/4*504
3/7 of the sophomores are boys:
Therefore 4/7 of the sophomores are girls: 4/7 * 1/4 * 504
1/3 of the sophomore girls take French
2/3 do not take rench

Number of sophomore girls not taking French = 2/3 * 4/7 * 1/4 * 504 = 2/21 * 504 = 48

take 504/4=126, the number of sophomores. then 3/7*126=54 to get the number of boys. 126-54=72 is the number of girls. one third of them take french, so 1/3*72=24. then 72-24=48 is the number that do not take french.

Number of students: 504

1/4 of them are sophomores: 1/4 * 504 = 126
Number of sophomores (from above): 126

3/7 of the sophomores are boys: 3/7*126 = 54
Number of sophomore boys (from above): 54

Rest should be sophomore girls (number of sophomores - number of sophomore boys): 126 - 54 = 72
Number of sophomore girls: 72

1/3 of sophomore girls take french: 1/3 * 72 = 24
Number of sophomore girls who take french: 24

The rest don't take French: (number of sophomore girls - number of sophomore girls who take french): 72 - 24 = 48

Number of sophomore girls who do not take french = 48
