I find not answering them in the first place the most effective manner in dealing with a troll. It is very difficult to restrain ourselves at times with is an unfortunate characteristic of human nature.

Human treatment is needed. Show him you are good to him. God will reward you for that situation.

Report them immediately. The Yahoo Answers crew knows exactly what to do with them each time they get reported: delete and expel. The main thing is not to carry on any dialog with anyone who becomes offensive to you or to others about immutable characteristics such as color, nationality, religious affiliation, gender or physical appearance/challenges. Anyone who makes a practice (two or more posts) of this should be denied access from their computer address location by this web site. We all belong to the same community here.

Personally, I'm in favor of unmerciful and unending ridicule. Not of the type where you say someone is "stupid" or an "a_ _ hole", but the kind of painful sarcasm that's difficult or impossible for them not to take personally. (Oh, how I love sarcasm.)
But, since many people just aren't that good at it, I'll pick #2. I agree: they're looking to get a rise out of people, not make an actual point. Don't give them the rush, and they'll crawl away or actually ask a question worth answering.

Ignore them. Racists on the internet will most likely not even have the courage to express their hate in the real world. Remember that silence is sometimes the deadliest weapon. Think about how bad it would feel for you to ask a question, whether here or in a real-life situation, and no one bothers to pay attention to you.

Now, this is just an observation, but you will notice that the VERY racist answers you got here were NOT from caucasians. Of course that's not to say there aren't racist caucasians---duh, of course there are. (Dr. C. Shore, for example)
I think the best way to deal with racists, no matter what color (they come in all kinds) is to ignore their question completely. That, or answer it with a joke made at their own stupid expense, lol.

Hey everyone needs to vent and if they are at home typing vigorously with anger at least they are not out there actually doing something-so I say let them type on and we do gooders can persistently tell them to grow up and shut up-and maybe candid answers will make them realize how dumb they sound---a possible mild form of rehabilitation and a nice dose of reality can always help.

The best thing to do is to just ignore them. There is no logical reason to start arguing with someone online. It is there opinion and they do have the right to it. If you don't agree with it then just ignore them. There is no reason to report them it doesn't really do any good.

Ask them to cite their sources?
Personally I go along with Robert Heinlein - a fair deal for both sides is when you each get an equal share - and the one who divides it up doesn't get to choose which half they get ; )

Here is my answer. None of the above. None of the choices above probably won't change their mind. Just let the Lord handle those type of people. He will do a better job than any of the choices above. And they will get whats coming to them, it may not be today or tomorrow. But they will get theirs.

i usually dont answer them or answer them seriously. i find that regardless of what people think of other people, most of us are on here because we genuinly want to know something. even if our question is racistor disgusting , it may be something that someone truly wants our opinion about, and not just for us to yell at them. so i give them my genuine opinion.
