As the two cars are moving towards each other,
the relative speed is:

20 + 30 = 50 mph

Given the distance is 60 miles,

The time for both cars to meet is:

60/50 = 1.2 hours

or 1 hour 12 minutes.

Since they are going in opposite directions their speeds relative to one another will be the sum of their speeds
20 + 40 = 60
The are effectively going towards each other at 60mph
The distance between them at t=0 is 60 miles.
They will meet each other after 1 hour.

20 + 30 = 50
60/50 = 1.2 hours or 1 hour and 12 minutes
1hr 12min

One car is going 20 mph and the other is going 30 mph

They are traveling towards each other.

The distance between them is 60 miles

The distance is closing between them at a rate of 50 (20 + 30) mph.

time = distance / speed

T = 60 / 50 = 1.2 hours = 1 hour 12 minutes

1hr and 12 mins.

In one hour, 50 of the 60 miles will be covered (30 +20), which is 5/6 the distance. So, the remaining 1/6 of the distance must take 1/5th of that time.

Car A speed = 20 mph -->
Car B speed = 30 mph <---
Relative speed of faster car to slower car is 50mph
t = 60 / 50 h
t = 6 / 5 h
t = 1 h 12 min

It will take one hour for them to meet. Here's how: In one hour, car A will go 40 miles. Car B will go twenty miles. So:
40 + 20 = 60
60 = miles away from each other.

Therefore, it will take one hour for them to meet.
