This is a question for your employer -- and I would come out and ask. An attorney will not help you here as they would be within rights to not give you clearance.

However, many employers will assist someone who has made mistakes, depending on the mistake.

Best thing to do is to tell your employer about the dui's if they don't already know, explain about your treatment program and how it has worked for you (assuming you are/were in treatment) and why you have become a better person and will never be so stupid as to get behind the wheel of a car after even ONE drink.

And then pray.

The dui's and other alcohol charges will not bode well for your clearance. You will need a min of 5 years from last incident for reviewers to completely ignore the transgressions. What will probably happen is a lot of questions about your alcohol addiction, yes I know you may claim there's no addiction but your record will work against you on that, and interviewers will want to know if you have sought any help.

The plus side is it is only a secret clearance and most people can get a secret through as long as they are honest. I can guarantee you if you lie and are caught in the process you will be eliminated from the job with little thought. There is a large number of military members who already posses a clearance who are far more sought after than someone with a drinking problem.

And don't get silly. I point out what reviewers will see. The documentation is the only thing that speaks for you and with the history you describe you will be considered to have a drinking problem and if there's no help sought in the intervening years then there will be questions as to your current status.

Remember a drinking problem translates into a lack of control which means you are a risk as far as raters are concerned.

If he became a juvenile and not interior the Reserves while this all became completed then that could make a distinction. in spite of the shown fact that if he became an grownup or interior the Reserves or the two while he did all this then his probabilities of having a clearance are slender to none. All military Reserve could desire to be eligible for a secret clearance for motives like deployment and are predicted to demonstrate screen their habit and save issues interior of particular suitable limits even for the time of their non duty or non participation time like between drill weekends. If he did this collectively as being interior the Reserves he in actuality has no threat in any respect of having a clearance.

The DUI's will probably be a problem.

I doubt if a lawyer can help. They are there, and always will be. They identify you as a statistically higher security risk.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Keep looking.
