I mean i know I lot of people say that he did but did he admit to it... or was it proven one way or the other... and is his record legitimate? Because if it is.... then that is the reason that MLB is letting Barry bonds get away with it because then they could get sued or racial pregudice or somthing. If the let Mark get away with it, they have to do the same for barry.

He did during the 1998 season, when he was taking the then-legal supplement Androne. The stuff Bonds was alleged to have taken, if proven, was illegal at the time he was alleged to have done it. You make a good point that baseball knew full well McGwire was doing steroids and turned a blind eye to it when he chased Maris in 1998.

The only enhancer Big Mac ever admitted to taking was androstenedione, or Andro. The revelation came about after a reporter saw it in his locker during an interview and asked about it - the funny thing is, at the time, the reporter was not seen in a positive light for making mention of this fact.

McGwire never tested positive for any steroids, but he was retired by the time MLB instituted testing. He's never copped to using anything else, so it's impossible to really say. Jose Canseco did accuse him of drug use in his book, and he did seem to bulk up as he got older, but it's still speculation.

Who cares!

But if you want to know, then no he didn't admit to it. But he did admit to taking the supplement Andro which has same side effects. So yes, it is proven he took something, not necessarily roids. His record is legit. He didn't break rules, just like Barry didn't break rules. This stuff wasn't banned by baseball until recently.

Also it's McGwire! Lots of people spell his last name wrong and I don't understand why!

I know he took something called "Andros" or something like that I can't remember the exact name but that was not on the banned substance list. As far as actual steroids like Conseco, Palmero and many others I am more than inclined to think not.

of cource he did, his numbers went up very quickly and he sustained a lot of injuries late in his carreer. his record isn't legitimate because of the steroids.
