Why would it be a bad idea to carry around a passport in your jeans-pocket (as opposed to a passport holster)?

Yes, I think it's a bad idea. Your passport might fall out of your pocket and you wouldn't even know. :(

Because it could fall or be taken out of your jeans pocket

it's easier to get it stolen if it's in your pocket...either way, be careful
