With my first baby my contractions began the day after my due date. My due date was on the 19th, I began with very mild contractions on the 20th at around 9:00 a.m. I had them all day, they felt like menstrual cramps, at night they got stronger, so I went to the hospital around 10:00 p.m. I was in labor all night (with an epidural, of course) and my baby was born on the 21st at 11:00 a.m.
My second baby was different, I went into labor exactly a week before my due date, and was in labor only six hours.
That's my story, you can get an idea, all pregnancies are different, you might go into labor within the next two hours, or you might go into labor with the next two weeks. Your baby will come out, when it's ready, I know you are probably anxious to meet that little person you've been carrying around for the last nine months, but be patient, you'll be holding him/her pretty soon.
CONGRATULATIONS!! Hope everything goes well with your delivery.
God bless!

Some people get have a labor that builds up from some easy contractions....a couple an hour, that proceeds over a couple of days. Some people have no signs, their water breaks and two hours later they have a baby. Everyone is different, even with different pregnancies, your labor will be different. You may or may not get signs, it may just appear all of a sudden with contractions every five minutes. No one can forecast what will happen for each person.

A lot of first timers go late, and depending on your doctor....they may let you go as much as two weeks late. With my first I went into labor literally right after coming home from a checkup. My contractions were about fifteen minutes apart, they weren't too bad....felt like cramps, then they went to ten minutes apart, then eight, then five, then three, then they felt like it was just one big contraction that was never going to end. I had failure to progress though, so my labor isn't the best one to go by......My contractions were not making me dilate, I was so tired by the time I was ready to push that I had a really hard time pushing, I pushed for three hours and she was just stuck, she was face up and kept getting stuck on my pelvic bone, they let me keep trying until she started showing signs of distress and then I had an emergency c-section. My first contraction was at 11:00 on Monday morning, she was born exactly at 11:00 on Wednesday. Yes...forty eight hours later. That was the labor experience from you know where.

With my twins I had an emergency c-section, no labor at all. The whole natural childbirth thing is a little over-rated in my opinion. Actually a lot over-rated.

My friend on the other hand, has nice short labors.....although I don't know how excited you can get at the prospect of six hours worth of contractions two minutes apart. My sister averages twelve hours, my aunt is the speed queen with two hours each, everyone is different. When you are in labor you will know.

don't get discouraged, but if this is your first baby you probably won't have your baby tomorrow...remember, the due date is just a guess! Some things you can do to help get your body going...sex helps, the semen has hormones in it that help soften the cervix so it can start to thin out and dialate...walking is good, it won't induce labor, but it will help keep pressure on your cervix (which also helps dialation), if you have a birth ball (the big exercise ball), you can sit on that...not only is it comfortable, but the position you end up sitting in will help baby move down...labor won't start until the baby is ready...when that time comes, hormones are released that cause contractions...for now, just try to relax, get lots of rest and double check to make sure you have all the stuff ready!!! Good luck...don't worry, your baby will be here soon!!!

Most first babies are over due- both of my girls were over due- and it was so horrible!!! Anyways foe me when I thought I was in labor I was wrong but both times I did go into labor I had pains and it took about 4 hours of contractions before I really thought I was in labor. So I guess what I am saying is it will niot happen untill you start to feel like you are never going to have him/her--- good luck and congrats!!!! PS do not try to take anything ie castor oil- to go into labor it will make you sick and if it does make you go into labor- doubtfully- it is very harmful for the baby as your contractions come to close togeather plus you would end up pooping all over the table-- yuck

It could happen. Some people have labor symptoms only when it's time to deliver.

Did the baby already drop into position? It's possible that the baby's not ready yet and you may go another 2 weeks.

hi ! i am the mama of 4 kiddos, but each one came a little different. The due date isn't really set, your water doesn't always break and contractions can feel like gas, menstrual cramps, or unspeakable pain,,,,,BUT trust your intuition, that little urge you get,,,in my experience my intuition always seemed to be right. relax. And don't be afraid of natural birth, I had my last one at home, not on purpose, just never made it out of the bed room, but it was also the easiest. Trust your instincts and enjoy it ,,,,,it is an amazing experience :)

My sister showed no signs of cramps or anything the day before her due date then on her due date her water broke but she didn't have the baby until the next day.

It all depends on if the baby wants to come out or not, i wouldn't worry about it it'll happen soon enough

a due date is an estamation you could have it up to 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after it depends on when the conception happened as well

you will know it when your water breaks friend

having sex will help the baby come faster

First babies are often late. Due dates arent really dates but just the nearest 2 week probability. Congratulations and enjoy this last peaceful time you will ever have!
