Well, if you're breastfeeding it could be a long time...like 3 or more months...I wouldn't have sex until you get the okay from the dr and get on some form of birth control...there is no way to know if you've ovulated if you haven't had a period yet...so you could get preggo and have babies that are 10 months apart!!! With my first pregnancy (lost the baby at 37 weeks), I bled the entire 6 weeks and then a week after that I got my period...talk about torture...but really, you should wait to get the okay from the doc! Good luck and congrats on the new baby!!!

If you are nursing, you may not see your period for some time after delivery. For instance, I am a nursing mother and my son is 8 1/2 months old-still no period. I love the break! If you are not nursing, I'm not quite sure about that, sorry. About sex- it's ok to start havng it if you are married. God says. If you feel healed up enough then the doctors say it's okay, just remember to proceed with caution. Strongly communicate this to your husband. Tell him to be gentle. It may even hurt part way through, just let him know-he should understand just fine. Have a good day and God Bless!

It varies. It all depends on your hormones. They are all out of whack right now. If you are breastfeeding it may not return until a few weeks after weaning. I would give yourself a few more weeks. Your body is trying to get back to normal. Give it time. I'm sure you don miss it!! LOL! As far as sex goes. I have always been told to listen to your body. If you try and it hurts to much.. stop. It's okay. DH has to understand that there is major construction going on down there!!! I would wait at least 4 weeks probably closer to 6. BE CAREFUL!!! YOU CAN GET PREGNANT AGAIN EVEN IF YOU HAVEN'T GOTTEN YOUR PERIOD BACK YET!!! I put that all in caps because I know someone that that happened to! Good luck and enjoy your new baby! Congrats!

The time frame to expect your period again depends on a lot of things. One major issue being whether or not you're nursing. If you're nursing, you probably won't see your period until you've weaned the child some. If not, I'd give it a couple of months.
Safe to have sex... ehhh? Also depends. The doctors say wait until your 6 week post partum check up. Some people, go ahead whenever they feel comfortable, but I'd wait for the go ahead from the doctor.

my wife just had a baby 2 months ago on 5-21 and just got her first real period, usually most docs say 6 weeks but i would ask just incase cuz if you had special circumstances it may be longer, however we have 2 kids and didn't wait more than 2 weeks either time

Nina,
Different from women to women and is dependent on how long you were breastfeeding....
Dr told us 6 weeks until fun could begin again... and to use condoms until on the pill for at least 1 cycle..

It all depends on the pregnancy.. You should give yourself a good 45 days to heal. It can take anywhere from 7 to 35 days for your cycle to resume.
