Does anyone know the minimum allowable thickness of a 1997 Ford escort brake rotor? I work at a chevy dealership and can cut them myself, but I cannot find out the service information for ford vehicles.

My Haynes manual says the numbers are cast into the disc. That may not be true if aftermarket ones have been fitted, but if you are turning the factory originals, the numbers should be there. You could ask to see replacement parts at a Ford parts counter, and read the numbers from there. But I am really surprised you wouldn't have the information at work. What kind of dinky service shop do they have that they don't have the information to service other makes they may take in trade? I had all the work for an Olsmobile done at my Chrysler dealership that I had purchased it from.

It's required by law to be stamped on the rotor, just look close . not on the part the wears, the inner rough looking part.
