I have herd little about this and would like to learn more. Apparently there is a website about letterboxes. A child activity that offers a kind of scavanger hunt to find a box. When the box is found it has a notebook in it that you sign and stamp. The the person that left the box goes back and gets it to see how many people have signed it. If you can shed light on this please do!

Thank you!!

Yep. It's http://www.letterboxing.org . You use written clues to find the container. It will have a pad of paper and a rubber stamp. You also carry a pad and stamp, and an inkpad. You stamp their stamp in your pad and your stamp in theirs. Then you put the container back for the next person.

There's a related game called geocaching where we hide things on each other and use our handheld GPS unit to find it. The container, if it's big enough, will have trinkets for trading. You sign the log and trade items if you want, then put it back. You can log your find on the website and keep track of how many you've found, and even how many miles you've traveled.
