Best thing to do...if you are super talented and good looking, is go to every audition possible. Represent yourself. If you are that good, they will want you no matter what.

Hi,
The first thing I would recommend is that you get good training. You might be able to get an agent, but you also want to be able to keep him/her and get sent out on lot of auditions.
I answer questions like this a lot and so instead of writing the same or similar answers over and over again, I have created a 36-page ebooklet that answers your question pretty thoroughly.
Just go to http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/acs-blog.html , sign in on the right side of the page and you can download it for free. It's called: What It Takes To Become An Actor.
The second resource you'll want to look at that really answers your question as you asked it is: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/how_to_get_an_agent.html . It takes you through a process that I used to get two agents and a personal manager in a short period of time.
Just remember that getting an agent will most probably not answer all your prayers. You still have to do your share. Remember that the agent only gets 10% of the take, so in my opinion, a good attitude to have is that YOU have to do 90% of the work to make sure you get seen. If it turns out that your agent is getting you a lot of auditions, then great, but don't count on it. And that, my friend, is why I answered the first part of this question the way I did. You need a lot of other things if you are in this for the long haul!
Hope this helps!

The school will help you with exercises and acting skills. They will do one or two plays but not a lot. If you want to find a producer you have to have an agent and, they find when try-outs are for a certain parts. Then the producers narrow it down to four or five and they have you do your lines and parts without the script and then they decide.

You will learn the craft of acting. It's takes years to become an actor. Most schools are not in the business of helping youfind acting work, that is up to you. You will network with actors in your class and hope they can guide you.

You are going to learn what you need to know at the school. First find out if you are any good. Then worry about spending the millions of dollars.
