I have a 7 weeks old baby too ( June 4th), and it seems that since a few days, he is very gassy too! I don't think you should worry, unless it keeps your baby up all night or she/he looks very uncomfortable. I know that if you talk to his/her doctor she/he can suggest some medications. Personally I don't think want to start giving my son some medication, I think it bothers me more then him. If you breastfeed, check what you eat...there is lots of gassy food out there, tofu, onion, brocoli, green pepper e.t.c
Good luck!

Make sure your baby burps really well & never lay her down after a bottle until she burps sufficiently. Since she is prone to being so gassy already, don't let her drink more than an ounce & a half at a time in between burping. Being a gassy baby can cause her so much tummy distress, & she'll be so miserable. Mylicon makes drops for babies & they work just fine & won't harm your baby. Still, it's best to talk to your doctor about her being so gassy & ask him/her what they think of Mylicon drops for gas to be on the safe side.

Babies have gas because their digestive tract is getting used to the lactose and is building up good bacteria to digest food. So gas is very normal. If gas is too much and is causing him pain I would try good burping and would call up the doctor to see if it is ok to give baby Mylecon drops. There are also other things like gripe water or little drops of sugar water in extreme cases (not recommended usually!) but I always check with doctor first.

I have a 10 week old who was very gassy and I tried the drops and they never worked for me so I tries to make sure she was burped well and would try a million different things to make her comfortable, but over time it got worse and finally I had to switch the formula that she was on and now she is doing great.

Its not neccesarily a sign of something bad...if you are breast feeding it may be something you're eating that is being passed through your milk to the baby...if your baby is bottle fed, baby just may be swallowing a lot of air from the bottle...as for medication, it isn't a must, but it will help ease the gas pains faster...it is up to you though! If you are worried that the gas is hurting your baby, talk to the pediatrician about it! Good luck!!!

I have the same problem and my baby is only 1 week 4 days , honey it's normal, and i know it breaks your heart to see your baby is pain, but you can hold him high on your shoulder, and tap beneath the ribs or lay him across your lap press lightly on the belly

i have a 7 week myself and she has gas and constipation. we have been giving her gas medicine and it helps a little bit. i would be worried if you couldn't find a way to comfort her. you can try different things so you don't have to give her medicine.
my little girl likes being on her belly with her legs pulled up under her. it seems to make her feel better.

you dont need to use medicine for gas just be prepared to rub the baby's belly in circles for a while. my daughter was colicy and the doctor told us to rub her belly in circles to get the gas off her belly. if that dont help contact your doc or try gas drops for infants at wal mart they are under 3 dollars. good luck!

It's normal. You CAN use baby gas medicine but if she's not in real pain...just try burping her more often during feedings.

they do have gas drops but make sure you burp her evry 1-2 oz of feeding and if she has trouble burping move her up and down and change her position, that sometimes will loosen the bubble up. also you can lay her with your hand under her belly and gentley squeeze her belly, that can loosen up bubbles too.
