Anyone else a bit let down not knowing what jobs if any the three main characters got? All we know if that Neville teaches Herbology and Malfoy is going bald.

Yeah I did feel rather cheated. Rowling has always insisted that the final chapter would answer EVERY question ... there would be no loose ends, and we would hear a "roll call" of all the characters from the books who were left alive at the end.

Um, that just didn't happen. We didn't even find out what job Harry had, except it obviously wasn't at Hogwarts. Did he just retire at age 17? And what happened to the Durseleys? Did they even survive, or aren't we mean to care, despite them being major characters from the beginning?

Also, Rowling promised that somebody would unexpectedly learn magic late in life, and that we would find out what jobs Harry's parents had and how that was important to the plot. Didn't happen!

She also said that Harry and Voldemort were not related to each other - yet both of them were descended from the three Peverell brothers. That sounds like a relationship to me!

We never got to find out what Dudley's worst memory was when attacked by Dementors. We never found where Fawkes ended up after Dumbledore's death. We never found out what was behind the locked door in the Department of Mysteries.

Personally, I had absolutely no desire for Rowling to tell me what jobs everyone was doing, and what else was going on in their lives.

That's what my imagination is for. I had a lot of ideas about what I thought some of the characters would be doing, and I think it's far more interesting to create that myself. I was already a little disappointed because a couple things that I expected would happen after the story was told did not-- my fantasy was punctured by that short epilogue.

Besides, there were a couple touching moments in that epilogue that seemed more important to me the second time around. I loved the name Albus Severus-- it really shows how much understanding was gained. And I loved the moment with Draco, knowing that they did end up at least being civil towards each other if nothing else!

What jobs do you think the trio ended up with? Be creative!

Yeah I understand... I think it was a brilliant idea to take us back to Kings Cross and that going to Hogwarts... was all happening again (and that the station had a personal significance for JK) however it was a bit disappointing. It was better than some 1 pg newspaper article I was expecting, but we dont know anything really. Harry hardly does anything and the only thing that is really talked about is "Will I be in Slytherin," when I would have thought that JK would have wanted to take that evil theme out of Slytherin, now that Voldy had gone.

A bit, yes. Just finished talking to 1 off my mates, who has just finished reading it, (about time) have been choking to talk to her about it. The thing is, Rita Skeeter probably gave Ron and Hermione a fortune for their stories and Harry already had a fortune from james and Lily, so Ginny and he didn't need to work! Had already predicted about Neville being the 1 to go back and work at Hogwarts. Did you notice any mistakes in the book?

If I were you, which I did this i'm sad to say, i would get the program limewire, go under the search engine and click on documents, and type in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows....and download it......when it comes up look at, (it should be in Adobe Acrobat form) and see if it starts out with Harry coming home from King's Cross and the first chapter has something to do with Dudley......read it...it is VERY good...just as good, if not better, than the real version

yeah but life doesn't just end like that unless you die. That's the end of the story as far as it was told. Their lives just carry on from there. Great authorship, and we do have imaginations as well. The whole HP thing depended on your emaginations. But it ended at the end of the story. What happens after that is not part of the story.

Does it matter? I though it was a great ending, at least you know they are all happy and thriving!! That is the most important part.
