I have heard two arguments to this answer and I am still confused which is better. What do you think

Neither is correct.

These are popular theories. If you read the literature, there is no scientific evidence to support either contention.

Answer 1 is easily disputed since dreams can disrupt sleep and lead to more stress over the dream and the mounting lack of sleep and daily performance.

Answer 2 is similar to Freudian and Gestalt *theory*. Freud was mistaken on many things. He even commented that some aspects of his theory were metaphors, but people tend to overlook that.

No scientist has been able to provide evidence that event A from today is linked to dream A. No scientist has been able to provide evidence that event A is unfinished and is then completed in dream A.

Answer 2 is a concern because your dream during the day may be pleasant as is the dream in the evening. A pleasant dream is no reason to be taking anxiety meds. People should consider when they play doctor.

Your dream could be a desire or a fear, or some other reasons.

No one can definitively say. Anyone claiming to know positively has not been reading the psychological literature.

I agree with Guru, any given answer would just be guessing. My personal experience has been that if I dream of what I had done or decisions that I had made during a day, it's because I question myself as to if I was right or wrong. I guess that gives credit to #2 as far as anxiety goes. But, if I understand your question correctly, it doesn't say you are having trouble sleeping. But I'm not a Psychologist.
