It should have at least a 20gallon aquarium, some aquarium rocks on the bottom, water about half filled , some kind of dock or baskin area, basking light UV flourescent bulb at least 6owatt, a really good filter such as Fluval Plus 2, sometimes they need a heater to keep the temperature around 70-80 degrees, a thermometer, I feed mine repto-min reptile pellets, sometimes goldfish, sometimes mealworms (canned), and it is not necessary but I use a shell conditioner on them. I have 2, and they are in a 20 gallon but they need to have more like a 40 or 50 gallon because they have grown so much, I am now looking into that. They love to swim and need a dry place to go and bask out of the water for a bit. That is all I can think of for now. Good luck:)

They take an awful lot of work and need very special care. Please see

http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/caresheet-red_ear_slider.htm

for complete care info. Basics are a 10 gallon sized tank for each 1 inch of shell length, a basking area to climb out of the water on, a basking lamp, thermometer to monitor basking temp (digital thermometer a must), a water heater, a water thermometer, a powerful water filter, a UVB bulb which must be within 12 inches of the basking area and changed every 6 months, and change the water very very very often. Feed a variety of foods in a separate tank to help keep things clean. Do not use plants or gravel in the tank. Gravel will cause fatal impactions.

What I've noticed with my turtles is they need lots of room to swim. I always say go with a bigger aquarium. Second you need to get a bulb that has UVB rays. This helps in their digestion. And as for food, I use goldfish. This gives them exercise and food. They are cleaner the pellet food. If they are still small use guppies because they are smaller than goldfish.

Im sorry, yet she could be. Its odd that she is merely floating there. If I have been you, identity set her on the rocks so she would be able to respire, and wait some hours before figuring out something or doing something rational.
