daytime! (sorry. couldn't help myself)

September is great for northern Europe; I love Italy in April/May.

Summer is crowded, but if I were going to Scandinavia, I'd choose late June.

I would recommend most of southern Europe in the fall and winter when the weather cools off a bit. The rest of Europe is great to visit during the spring, summer and fall. May is one of my favorite months because the weather is mild, the flowers are blooming and the country side is covered with raps fields yellow with bloom. But I like September and October because they are still warm and sunny but the leaves are turning colors. Unless you are coming for the skiing, I would avoid December, January, February and March. That's usually when there is the most snow. Normally, summers are nice and sunny, hot closer to the Med. Right now it's very wet, though, and cold.

Spring or summer. However it is the most expensive time too. Very often weather is nice and worm in September or October and it is not as expensive as June, July and August.

Spring or Summer is definitely the best as it is easy to travel around

In France and Germany, the best tourist time is September. That is when the weather is the best, usually, and all the flowers are in bloom. Winters are very cold in these countries and summers are hot and crowed with tourists, so September is the idea month.

It really depends on where in Europe, and you will probably get different answers depending on people's interests and the type of weather they find comfortable.

I've only visited once, mostly Germany and Amsterdam, and went the last week of September/First week of October. Weather was perfect for us. Light pants or shorts for me, long sleeves for the wife (who sometimes gets chilly).

IMO, summer. Warmest. If need be you can camp out in a tent.
