It would be irresponsible to get it reversed. How are you going to teach your future child about actions and consequences if you dodge the consequences of his vasectomy? That sounds like bad parenting and you have not even started.

I know that sounds cruel, and not really what you want to read. I use this answer a lot. It frequently gets picked as the best, by the voters.

Sorry to tell you, but the vasectomy reversal is almost out of the question. I just had one done and the doc told me the longer I waited to get it reversed, the smaller the chances it would work. 18 years, Im willing to bet the chance of reversal working are nil. Sperm extraction is something you both will have to talk to your doctor about. I remember something about the male body producing sperm antibodies, so your guy may not even be able to produce. Again, talk to the doc and find out. Any Urologist will be able to help with these questions, as well as costs for extraction and implantation if its possible. Good luck to you, I hope that Im wrong about the antibodies for your future baby's sake.
