well to motivate sales staff, I'm assuming to sell more, you might try holding competitions between them and giving a prize to the winner(s). If you do that its a good idea to find out circumspectly what would be a good enough prize.
Also additional incentives always help.

1. Fire dead wood.
2. Implement a philosophy of excellence and that nothing else is acceptable.
3. Encourage those who do not agree to rethink their working for you.

4. Compensate your staff. Working hard should be compensated. Meeting quotas and targets should be rewareded. After all, why do it if there is little financial reward.
5. Speak to your staff about what interfers in their ability to meet quotas.
6. Set quotas if none exist.

7. Establish a system of sharing information. Everyone has tips, tricks and techniques for landing a sale. Encourage your staff to share what works and what doesn't.

8. Check in with yourself. Are you expectations reasonable? Are they doable in the marketplace given market forces?

9. Implement a policy of having fun on the job. No one is any good if they are always stressed out. They may produce numbers in the short run, but they will burn out.

And 10. Check in with your customers. What are you doing that may inadvertently be turning your customers of your business or product.

There are two main motivators.
1. Punishing negative actions.
2. Rewarding positive actions.

The latter has proven to improve morale in people, but the former has proven to be the better reminder. Wisdom lies in the balance of the two.
