Blackpool is for hen and stag parties. Lots of bars, the Big Dipper. A great resort if you are young.
Southport is more genteel. It has a slower pace of life. Great shops, covered pavements,so you can shop without getting wet, good bars and restaurants. It is a far more expensive area than Blackpool.
Pensioners like to go to Southport on a coach and admire the floral displays whilst eating fish and chips.

Erm, not an awful lot, but it depends on your age really, whether you will be able to find stuff to do or not. You can walk along the pier or the beach, but the tide doesn't come in very often, there is a great new waterpark open called Dunes Splash World which is very very good, there is a pitch and putt, crazy golf, lots of good shops and other stuff that i don't know about!
If you go, hope you find something to do! xx

Not very much now, the beach isn't that good unless you wont to walk for miles cause the tide is that far out , there use to be a fair there but as far as i know its closed , there are some brilliant caravan parks there if you fancy going for the weekend ( you have to have your own caravan though) , the shopping is good , there's loads of shops - if you like shopping that is , there is also a theatre (most things are for children but thay do things for adults as well - just have to check to see what on).
Oh and there is a smallest pub in the whole of England there - well worth a visit , and some good night clubs , happy visiting if you go ,

Well I go to college there. We used to go mostly for the fair but now it is gone. They have just opened a huge splash world though which looks amazing!. There's a cinema, bowling, fast food, Lord street which has all the shops. Erm...museums, libraries, hotels, the sand dunes and beach, some archeology sites and excavations (they actually begin tomorrow and continue all week), ship wrecks and finally the sea! :) ope that was of hep for you.

There's a huge beach but no sea, just a thin blue line on the horizon.
