Legal aliens may get
* social security number or
* alien registration number
Your driver's ed teacher is familiar with the rules for citizens, but might not be familiar with the ruels for legal aliens.
You need to get familiar with rules for legal aliens.
You will need the equivalent of a social security number to pay income taxes, to open a bank account, to get a job, buy auto insurance, to get a driver's license, to own a car & register it to drive in USA, to buy a home or rent an apartment, get help at a hospital or doctor office, attend university. Here are some links for more info.

You'll have to have some sort of papers to show your legal status (like, that you're a legal alien.)
If you're not here legally, you may or may not be able to get a driver's license, but you probably won't be able to get a learner's permit.
Which, I suppose, would mean you'd have to go to another country, get a license there, and come back here to get a license.
But if you can show your status, you MAY be able to get a permit...but check with your local driver's license office (usually the DMV, though the name is sometimes different from place to place) to see what they require.
And while you're at it, get a booklet on what you need to know for the driver's license tests. You'll need that anyway.

in case you are able to produce a start certificates and a image identity pass to the Social risk-free practices administration place of work on your county and be conscious it takes approximately 10 weeks to get a sparkling card. they could or ought to no longer inform you the selection once you be conscious. That relies upon on the clerk's temper.

no. why don't you apply for one? you are a resident so it is about time to do it. you don't have to be a citizen to have a social security number. as long you have your resident permit (greencard), you can still get one. log on to www.socialsecurity.gov

If you are a legal resident, then yes.
You would provide a copy of your immigration documentation showing that you are a legal resident.
Under federal laws, as long as you as legal, you cannot be denied based on your immigration status.

You must have been not legal in this country. Because when you enter the country, you have to get one card after 4 weeks.
