I am only about 7-8 weeks pregnat(find out a better number on wen) and was bored online. I found myself looking around on babies r us. I was looking at co-sleepers, bassinets, and the pack & plays with the infant bed up top. I REALLY like the look of the circle bassinets but the only 2 user reviews on the page basically said they were crap.....anybody have/had one?

For my first child she slept in the bed with us for the first couple of months. Well this time I refuse to make that mistake again. I do want the baby to be close though. So im thinking co-sleeper. but I dont know. im not sure how safe a co-sleeper is.

anybodys words are appreciated

co sleeper is the way to go, they are safe and work great. I would not use a round bassinet, they look nice, but seem like they take up alot of space, plus you can only buy the special mattress and bedding, which is overpriced.

Even if you find some to purchase, it's really easy to transform normal bedding into the specialty kind. First, determine if you'll need a crib sheet or a portion of a twin flat sheet for enough fabric. Figure the diameter of the round bassinet mattress, and add 6" around the circle. Sew a small hem around the outside, then fold the hem over again to make a 1" casing. Thread 1/4" white elastic through the casing, and voila! you have custom bassinet sheets. You can adapt almost any baby bedding to the round shape like this. A wonderful advantage is you don't have to use purchased bedding; you can purchase remnants at JoAnn Fabrics and make pricey looking bassinet linens for just a few dollars. It seems like such a waste to buy such expensive specialty bedding when a baby spends less than a month or so in a bassinet.

A co-sleeper needs to be without blankets and you need to make sure that your blankets won't cover the baby. You also need to be unable to roll onto the co sleeper. I think that you are better off getting a regular crib and putting it a few feet away from your bed. That way that baby has it's own space but it still close you you. Check out the risk factors for SIDS and make sure that you eliminate them in your baby's sleep area.

Co-sleeper has been great for those who have one. I'm in the group that cannot have baby right in bed with me (chronic insomnia), so a co-sleeper is a good substitute.

I personally never did co-sleeping with any of my four children, si I can't give any advice on that. As far as a round bassinett I bought one for my daughter at wal-mart.com and I loved it and so did she, the crib just seemed to big and she always slept better in the bassinett. She is 10 weeks and I still use it but when she grows out of it I plan to keep it so that she can put her dolls and things in it when she get older.

I have a graco combo bassinet/changing table/cosleeper. It can be strapped to the bed for cosleeping. It's a little cumbersome, but overall not bad. It's oval in shape. I think the round ones look nice, but might not be too user friendly.
