Snoring is quite often caused by a sleep disorder or being overweight. Many sleep disorders also stem from weight problems. Studies have shown that people who sleep with a spouse who snores lose an average of 63 minutes worth of sleep a night. Get your husband on a diet and make him stick to it! Losing even 10 lbs would most likely make a substantial difference in the snoring in addition to countless other health benefits. If your husband is not at all overweight then you should talk him into seeing a doctor about sleep disorders. Keep in mind that snoring not only causes you to lose sleep, but him as well. Help him stop the snoring and he will thank you many times over!

Hi,
He should see a Dr., he could be suffering from sleep disorder. which can lead to all other kinds of problems. If he stops breathing for a few seconds in between breaths, that is a major clue, also falling asleep during the day, or while driving, or snores in front of people and then tells you that he heard everything--take it from me, he probably has a medical problem.
I believe that this can lead to heart problems also. Doesn't hurt to check it out.
Hope this helps.

Most likely your husband needs a sleep apnea machine trust me I know, just convince him to go to the DR because snoring is a issue that really is important to his health because when you snore you actually stop breathing.

My husband is a sleep technologist. He said your husband needs to see a doctor who will probably order a sleep test. Oxygen is not getting through, therefore, he snores. He might needs a CPAP (whatever that is) to help him breathe better.
My husband snores too; he refuses to get a CPAP; claims it's not that bad. But I know better; sometimes I have to sleep in another room.
God Bless!

a snore is a sign of an upper airway or nasal obstruction, so you need to find out the sight of obstruction. is the snore coming completely from a nasal obstruction, or is it an upper airway obstruction. have an overnight oximetry done to find out if your oxygen saturations are dropping. if there is a sawtoothing pattern in your oxygen sats, further investigation should be done, like a formal sleep study. investigate sleep disorders at the american academy of sleep medicine, or the association of polysomnographic technologists website.

My wife likes to use her elbow, as well.
Another option is the no-snore strips that hold the nostrils open. They actually work.

Punch him in his head. He will wake up mad and go sleep on the couch and then you will be able to sleep. You may not get any for a while but you'll be well rested the next day.

He may not be doing it on purpose. Does he have his tonsils? Most people who have tonsils do snore.

Have you tried the breathe right strips? I have heard they really work.

If that doesn't work, encourage him to see his doctor as there are health issues that come along with snoring, such as sleep apnea.
