that theres hardly any cherries in fruit cocktail??? i hate that!!!

The shortage of Cherries is because I hoard them all for my Ice Cream Sundaes! If you snooze - you lose!

The cherries are the most expensive item, after you take into account the extra labor needed to pit them. After pitting, they have to half them in order to avoid having something that looks like damaged cherries. That requires additional hand labor and cost. All the other items in the fruit cocktail can be prepared by machine.

I have wondered that same thing since I was a kid sucks don't it ? and everyone fights for those two cherry halfs.
