Guatemala City is kinda huge. There are between 3.5 and 4 million people in the greater Guatemala City area. There's a lot of traffic too.

Yes, it's really big and spread out, and not particularly safe, especially in Zona 1. You would be better off in Antigua which is about forty minutes away from the airport. Antigua is a safe, beautiful, colonial city which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is geared up for tourists and has it's own tourist police force. Guatemala City does have some great museums and shopping centres though, so if you fancy spending some time there you will find some interesting things to do.

It is huge, there is a lot of traffic too. There are zone more crowded than others. We have 25 zones not 12.
It is a beautiful city specially in those areas that are touristic. There zones where poor people live too.
Guatemal city is not in order, that is to say that not only in certain places you find poor or rich people or touristic areas.
But no matter where you go, there are a lot of beautiful things to see.

YES, huge, there are 12 zones, and the exhaust fumes/pollution are horrible...but once you get out of the city, it's nice...I love Antigua.
