I'm a Red Sox fan, and I respect Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, and Mariano Rivera on the Yankees. Jeter and Rivera are sure to go into the Hall of Fame because of the careers they have had. They're both excellent in the clutch, too. I automatically have a little respect for catchers, who handle all sorts of pitchers, knowing all of their strengths and weaknesses. It's a tough job. Even if the Yankee pitching staff hasn't done too well this season (well, in the beginning anyways) Jorge has done a great job of being able to handle all of them.

I'm a Yankee fan, but I have always had a great respect for Ted Williams. Not only was he only one of the greatest hitters, if not THE greatest hitter who ever lived, but he was an amazing fighter pilot. What made Williams a great hitter was his eyesight, but it also made him such a great pilot, that he lost five years of his career while serving his country in WWII and Korea. The word hero is thrown around a lot, but Ted Williams really was a true American hero. When he came out on the field in the '99 All-star game, I felt like cheering in front of my tv set.

Also, I always had kind of an admiration for Carlton Fisk. First, it's a cool name, and second, when he was with the White Sox, he got in Deion Sanders' face, when Sanders was hot-dogging it with the Yankees as a rookie. Fisk said that wasn't the Yankee way, and he was right.

Today, I really like Mike Lowell, he came through the Yankee farm system, and still handles himself with class the way the other Yankee players who came up in the '90s did, like Bernie, Jeter, Pettitte, Mariano, and Posada. It's sad he only played a few games for the Yankees, but at least he wore the pinstripes for a little while. Also, overcoming cancer takes a brave person, which Lowell is.

As a Yankee Fan I admired Jim Rice for his great talent and tough image in the day. He was the most feared hitter in the game from 1977-1986. Present day I honestly respect Tim Wakefield NOT because he gave up a 7th game walkoff to Boone but cause his accountability for it and general demenor during press confrences. Besides You have to have stones to stand 60ft6in from Gary shefield and try to sneek a 65mph "fastball" by him.
