I am thinking of a movie I've seen in the past, but I don't know any of the actors names or the title. I do however remember the storyline. I am hoping it may be familiar to someone.
The movie is set in the 1950's and is black and white. The story is of two women teachers in their late 20's to mid 30's who start an all girls school. There is one particular young student who is a sociopath and is constantly telling lies. Towards the end of the movie the little girl lies to her grandmother saying her two teachers are intimatley involved with one another.
When this becomes known to all the parents, every child is removed from the school and the two teacher's reputations are ruined.
In the end, it is discovered, unbeknownst to the child who told the lie, one of the teachers is indeed in love with the other who is engaged to be married.

I think it is the childrens hour. Starring James Garner. I started watching it but couldnt finish because I was annoyed by that little girl. I think Katherine Hepburn was in it too. I ordered it on Blockbuster total access. I am a James Garner fan.

It is the Children's Hour. I read for one of my English classes. the movie had Audrey Hepburn as Karen and Shirley MacLaine as Martha
