USUALLY, A Capias Warrant is a warrant issued by the court for failure to appear. More often than not, its for traffic tickets that have not been taken care of. If you get a ticket on the street, and do not pay or come to court on the date on the ticket, the court issues a Capias or Alias warrant for your arrest. They never go away.

Basically, it sends greetings to the local sheriff and commands him to bring your body (assuming it's attached to your head) to court to explain to the court why you have not paid the judgment it ordered you to pay. In many states, this is called a "civil warrant," meaning you can only be arrested during the day and brought to court that same day. Usually, you make an arrangement with the lawyer or plaintiff to appear in court on a specified day to explain why you have not paid. If your explanation is, " I didn't feel like it," you may be held in contempt and put in jail until you decide you do feel like paying it.
