I am Christian but conservatives say that I am a liberal, not a Christian. So if you live south of the USA border and are starving but all you have to do to get work and buy food is walk a mile to the north what would Jesus say? Isn't “love your enemy” a rather liberal concept? Is Jesus a Christian?

I'm don't speak for Jesus but I feel that someone that poses no harm to our country and need the job to feed their family is welcome to come and bring their family with. There is a gate for those people to go through. If the don't want to use the gate then maybe they are hiding something. Jesus also told us to obey the authorities. Don't twist the teachings of the bible to make it shine in your favor.

Americans are the most generous people on the face of the earth. As a whole, we welcome anyone who wants to come to the country without breaking the laws. One must assimilate to our culture or they are doing this country a harm.

From the other perspective, the US makes it difficult to get in the legal way. If the process actually moved faster than a turtle, more law abiding foreigners would come through the legal way.

My solution is includes the following:

1. Extreme deterrents to crossing our border in the wrong spot. People need to feel their life is at stake if they cross illegally.
2. Logical immigration process to shorten the wait time.
3. Only people who want to become Americans come in permanently. If you don't want to assimilate, go home. You don't want to live the American dream of freedom bad enough.
4. NO HANDOUTS! Immigrants come to love this nation if they are forced to work for its rewards.

No one is saying don't feed them or give them water and shelter, but they still have to be deported back, because there are people who suffer far worse, tyranny and heartache in other countries than mexico and are waiting to come here and we are not going to bump them for some mexicans that can't abide by or laws in the first place. Be realistic most of them are not starving or dying, some of them even threw fire bombs at our border patrol injuring them just to get here.
Jesus would give them water and shelter before they get deported

I want to give some background be fore I answer.

First and foremost, "Jesus", the Greek translation of Yeshua (Joshua in English), lived as a Jew. "Jesus" was a practicing Jew, and taught the Hebrew religion, but not as it had been taught by the Rabbis who perverted Moses' law.

So no, "Jesus" was not a Christian.

Secondly - since when does being a Christian make one conservative, and since when does being conservative make one a Christian? The two are not mutually exclusive.

There are both liberals and conservatives that are Christians. There is no political party that has exclusivity to Christianity.

Those who proclaim that you are not a Christian sit in judgement of you, only your God knows your heart.

" Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? "

Ultimately, "Jesus" would want us to show mercy and compassion to one another. He would not recognize boundries drawn by man: "Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother: "

Peace be with you!

Conservative Christians are more concerned with the rules and laws of the Old Testament, and not the teachings of Jesus Himself.

Have you ever heard of a Christian demanding that The Sermon on the Mount be displayed in courtrooms and classrooms?

No, conservative Christians want rules, and not the subtlties of Jesus's real teachings. They want things easy, and despite what they say, they will turn their back on the words of Jesus, for rules.

Jesus was a LIBERAL, as well as a conservative. Mostly, though, he was considered this crazy outcast because he believed in cavorting with prostitutes and the poor and sick. Moreover, he was all about peace and fairness ("He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone...") which smacked in the face of convention of the time AND challenged the authorities that be.

Jesus would not be welcome in our society today. Just look at how we treat those "incorrigibles" among us who have the tenacity to question the actions of our authorities. Cindy Sheehan comes to mind--a peace activist who is reviled by the Right.

i would hope jesus would show and teach the poor how to live off of their own lands! then jesus should march into mexico city and bring wrath to the greedy politicians there and cast them out of office. the land in mexico is the same as here along the borders so......jesus would say what is the problem? laziness? poor education, you see all fingers point to a bad mexican government, not anything to do with their northen neighbors

You have hit the nail on the head! Jesus was not a Christian, he was in fact a Jew. What he turned out to be, he was a communist, probably the very first. And he paid for it; with his life. So what do you want to be, a Christian or a Communist?

As liberals will tell you, we are a country of laws. If laws are not enforced than thats called anarchy. Personally I like the rule of law position.

The immigration issue is a petty attempt by politicians to divert attention away from the millions they are paid by HMOs to defraud Americans out of health care.

The amnesty is really just a non-issue. They have been using this tactic about illegal immigration for scores of years, nothing really changes.

Keep focused on the influence money politicians on the left and right receive from the medical industry.

PS: Jesus was Jewish, but he converted to Christianity.
