How about 2 points for goals made over 30 yards? I'll certainly start watching. I believe many others would too.

It's almost impossible to comeback when you're down 2 or more goals. I think with these new rules, chances of coming back are better, thus making the game more exciting.

No. The rules are fine the way they are. The MLS should not change things and add what you suggest. The MLS tried doing things differently in the begining and it didn't work out. Why would it now? True fans of the sport wouldn't agree with what your suggesting. I wouldn't like the MLS as much with changes like that. This is soccer and this is how it's played. It's not basketball. We don't need to make changes to the MLS to appeal to people like you. The MLS treid that and it didn't work. The MLS lost fans and supporters because of that. It's much better and more popular now that it's played the same as every other pro league. Making changes like you suggest would hurt the sport here and the MLS and it would drive more fans away than it would bring in. The MLS would be a laughing stock if they made changes like you're suggesting.

Change it to what ever you want in MLS....But FIFA aint changing any rules. Beckham nor FIFA can attract common
Americans to Soccer....it will be failure.
MLS has changed the rules from its early days and yet the
games are played in small stadiums and hardly get sold out.
Compare this Euro soccer.....no tickets are available....
American culture needs fast paced games and the way soccer
is introduced is to show the old-time draw games and low
scoring.....hence it will never be a big success......

I would say, bring on people like Hilton, Sharapova and make
them wear tight outfits....and lo behold the stadiums would be
full irrespective how the game is played. Thats American
soccer fan

yes!! Nobody in America is going to watch soccer when most of the games have 0-1 goals. it doesn't matter about beckham coming over. America is used to the fast pace of basketball and football. Soccer needs to pick up the speed to compete with other American sports

No, its the greatest game on earth as it is and to Hook Em Horns above who said Americans like fast paced sports and then gave football as an example, what are you talking about?, football is stop-start whereas soccer is non stop for two 45 minute periods.

Speaking has a Brit, Please don't fool around with the rules. they are called goals not points. When Fifa mess about with the rules they always get it wrong.
the Motto is - don't try to fix something thats not broke.
