Occasionally it never happens unless you put a swear word then you lose 10.

Nothing happens for a thumbs down. Just some people that didn't like your answer. However you do get an extra point for each thumbs up if your answer is chosen best answer. Just learned this recently from a sweet young lady. Now, when I select a best answer, I also give a thumbs up.

Currently nothing happens. It is a function that closes the box for the user and no one else. I think that a lot of newer users are confused and don't know that the box only closes for them. It doesn't insure that the questioner doesn't get to see the answer because they have the ORIGINAL UNEDITED version in their inbox. So, if you squat on position (by answering 'no' and then submit), they know that you edited later when you add the 'real' answer. Apparently SQUATTING is also a violation of community guidelines because it could be a person who answers with a hyphen and then waits for a correct answer so that they can correct it and be first. It is also a variation on trolling.

no longer something happens with thumbs up or down till the respond has been chosen as a results of fact the appropriate answer, then the answerer will get carry of 10 factors and a million element for each thumbs up the respond has been given. no person is informed in the event that they get thumbs up or all the way down to their solutions, in reality some answerer will in all probability no longer even recognize they have them as they do no longer pass lower back to solutions that they have got given.
