when someone says there are a billion stars in the sky, you believe them but when they say theres wet paint, you have to check?

And, the answer to your question is that you can easily see many stars, but wet paint looks pretty much the same as dry paint. So, to "see" if the paint is wet you must touch it. To "see" if there are a lot of stars in the sky you must only look. Seeing stars takes only one type of observation, while determining if paint is wet takes two.

but that goes exactly for when you want everything that everyone else has, people go, "just because they have a phone, doesn't mean you have to have one,... if they jump off a cliff, are you going to?"
I always answer, "those are two COMPLETELY different things"
because it is,
there's a difference,
there are a billion stars in the sky, because we see that every night, but when they say there's wet paint (like jumping off a cliff) you would instantly think that's not true.
