The president knows the only way to get more quality health care to more people is for the government to step in and either provide the health care or establish strict standards that force the private sector to do so.

That's why the Medicare and Medicaid programs were developed. That's why the Department of Veterans Affairs runs hospitals.

So why does the president say things like he did Wednesday at a Roundtable on Health Care Initiatives in Landover, Md.?

Bush declared, "I really do believe that government involvement in health care will lead to less quality care and rationing over time." Preaching the gospel of the insurance giants and the HMOs, Bush told the Maryland gathering, "I want patients making decisions, not bureaucrats in Washington, D.C."

The fact is that Bush knows an expansion of government programs would cause millions of Americans to drop their private coverage because it is the private sector that lowers quality, rations care and takes away the ability of patient

Yes, he is, and it amazes me how any conservative participant in this forum can consistently extol the virtues of THEIR party (their efficiency, their legislation, their values, etc.) and then turn right around and say that government could not successfully handle universal health care. That, too, is hypocrisy.

Other countries have made it work. We're Americans; we can make it work, too.

Is Walter Reed a Veterans Hospital??

"The president knows the only way to get more quality health care to more people is for the government to step in and either provide the health care or establish strict standards that force the private sector to do so."

maybe you missed his proposal for a gov't plan to underwrite the cost of medical malpractice insurance?

maybe you missed the 2004 election when he called for torte reforms that would be Federal Laws regarding Lawyer's
and how much they can sue for damages?

maybe there needs to be an honest debate with both parties involved and have our elected officials worry about more than
raising campaign funds and crafting pay raises..

what program has the government run cheaper, more efficient, and better than the private sector? Government healthcare has been a miserable failure everywhere it is tried, why would we want to do that here? Think about the last time you tried to get something from government (ask the people trying to get a passport), how long did it take? What would the time wait on a heart transplant?

Quality Health Care, British-Style: You go to a doctor, who refers you to a specialist. You wait weeks for an appiontment and get one, which is a comprehensive exam. You pay nothing to either the doctor or the specialist, except what is taken in taxes.

Quality Health care, US Style: You go to a doctor, who refers you to a specialist. You get seen the next day, for two minutes and are told to come back in three weeks. You cannot get an appointment for five weeks. After four weeks, you think your problem is worsening, the next emergency appointment is six hours before you were due to be seen anyway. In any case, you pay taxes, health insurance premiums, a deductible, co-insurance and co-pays, which all amount to 50% more than you would pay in the UK, all told. Yet you are not seen any faster than you would be in the UK.

Sounds improbable? It happened to me today. If I did not have an eye doctor as a client, I may have lost my sight. The American health care "system" is broken. The next president must do whatever is necessary to fix it.

people who might have entire ability over the persons will unfold lies and confusion collectively as forcing the enaction of draconian rules and regulations. In 1994, Sen Jay Rockefeller (D, WV) stated, "'we can pass wellbeing reform whether the american people like it or no longer,'" that's no longer the attitude of a consultant however the attitude of an overlord. T he Senators and dwelling house representatives have been elected to _represent_ the voters of the united statesA., to no longer oversee them. The politicians are uncontrolled, they think of that they are "leaders" and not representatives of the persons. it's time to vote all of them out of place of work. we could desire to have a "eliminate INCUMBENT" decision on the poll

Would you vote for a health care program that would so severely limit doctors' income that we, like Britain, would be forced to import bomb making doctors for the ME?
