For the authorities who run this old world, a generation is generally considered to be 20 years. As to your generation, generally speaking, it would be about plus/minus 10 years, but refer to google.
According to google, you are in Generation Y (1970's - 1990's), Generation C (1980s - 2000s) and the Millennial Generation (1982 - 2000s)
Socially, it is not how many years before and after a person's birth, but into which of these "Generations" do they fall.
When I was young, I was considered to be in the Baby Boomer Generation; however, by the time I had reached my mid-40's, the Baby Boomers were considered to be people born after me by several years. So, it is not a fixed thing.
I got the Gen Y, C, and Millenial by going to google and typing in "baby boomer generation".
