With some of the causes Starbucks (and others) have taken up in recent years, that cup of coffee is part purchase, part donation.
I agree the cost is quite exorbitant. In fact, the average weekly allotment for the 26 million Americans living on food stamps is about $21. Imagine living on the value of two cups of premium coffee a week!
In fairness though, their support of grower co-ops, fair use of land and labor, and sustainable farming techniques in coffee growing countries may be worth the price in the long run.
Think of it the same way as that fundraiser candy bar that is thrust at you by doe-eyed youth every year, yielding a few ounces of mediocre chocolate for 5 bucks...
In this case, it's only flavored water, but it's a deal... sort of.

It is all image. The coffee at Starbucks is certainly not worth that kind of money. In this age of 2.00 bottles of plain water and 4.00 per gallon gasoline anything goes. The public will pay whatever is needed to meet the drummed up needs placed in them by media hype.

I expect the coffee shop owners would be exuberant until they lose all of their customers because of the exorbitant prices.

It depends how good the coffee is. I mean people spend thousands of dollars on wine because presumable it's better than the cheap stuff...so why not coffee?

You'll just have to start paying more attention to the Kingdom of God. and keeping your eyes off of the world system. For walking by faith and not by sight. Nothing is impossible onto him that believes.

Yes, of course it is. However, Starbucks is only raising their prices by 9 cents.
