Hip Hop is whatever you want it to be, dead or alive you are the one who decides if the hip hop done today is better than yesterdays. For example to me great hip hop was made in the days of when Tupac was alive and that era of hip hop is what I miss today. I miss great lyrics that talked about the streets and politics, today's lyrics are more about who has more money. better cars, trips to somewhere around the world. To me Hip Hop isn't dead its only waiting for a great lyricist to come and reawaken what its missing today, great rhymes and lyrics about issues that matter. Dont get me wrong I like the occasional club anthem here and there but too much is too much at least thats what I think.

its dead to some people and alive to others. Most older people think that hip hop is dead but the teens and younger think its better. I think both. I'm feelin the hip hop comin out now but i think they killed the old hip hop wit a better message.. iono thats just me

Nope like Krs1 said hip hop lives... nas was kind of being hypocrisy when he made the song hip hop is dead because we all know who he was aiming at because in the song he mentioned the whole movement thing thats happening in the south and when he was interviewed he said he wasnt aiming at no one and he didnt make it because the NY wasnt getting any attention... but if that was the case then I would believe he meant most of the rappers out from the south but not all are dead(meaning not real in any kind of way) and also in NY most of them are dead and the west coast.... I dont think he was JUST aiming at the south so all can get the **** off our backs because I dont think ANYONE is steppin up or the real mcees and rappers arent getting the attention that they deserve.

The four elements of hip hop are said to be dead. Which are DJing, MCing, break dancing and graffiti art. In underground venues of big cities like LA and San Diego, you can still find real hip-hop
So NO it is not dead. Y'all listen to nothing but commercial rap music and fall victim to the "Man" he has you listening to his radio stations that play his artist. Wake and smell the gunpowder.

It lives in the underground. Radio doesn't play real hip hop. And KRS-ONE and Marley Marl say hip hop lives, I guess you just have to find it yourself.
