It seems they're trying to help the terrorists. All good hearted Americans will be afraid to speak up, because they could get sued and lose their possessions. Democrats are tearing this country apart.

It wasn't worth a Benjamin Franklin Bill

H R 1401 RECORDED VOTE 27-Mar-2007 7:22 PM
QUESTION: On Motion to Recommit with Instructions
BILL TITLE: Rail and Public Transportation Security Act

Ayes Noes PRES NV
Democratic 105 121 6
Republican 199 2
Independent
TOTALS 304 121 8

From the voting status it seems the AYES have it. I don't have any objection to the Bill and I KNOW all the Democrats don't, but I guess in the world in which we live, and narrowing to the US, people need to be aware of all the particulars in this case. I am glad to know that passsengers were observant to what they thought might have been a 'situation' when they saw strange behavior of some men. I would have said something too...but the recourse is that someone may want to sue if they feel that they were 'singled out' and fit a certain profile. Profiling is the one thing that Blacks are aware from all points. If you are going to cast that finger, you'd better be sure you have all the facts. It might be more than just trying to stop an airlines from landing and putting some people off because they 'fit' someone who might be on board to do harm. What kind of recource would they have?

I don't think overall anyone is going to be afraid to speak up when they see something they truly believe is going to be harmful to our society. But the real challenge is - let's take this same action back into our communitites. And for the most part, I doubt that one political group is responsible for 'tearing apart out country'. Read the history books....our country has been in trouble for quite some time....and the Democrats were not 'invented' then.

What's tearing the country apart, as you put it, are the apologists GOP who continue to resist a war strategy change in Iraq that motivates muslims around the world to join the global jihad movement. We don't need another pointless Samaritan law that exists already.

Because it was a badly written law.

Current law already protects anyone who acts in good faith, or based on reasonable suspicion of a crime.

The John Doe bill would have created ABSOLUTE immunity, which is completely redundant for anyone who acts in good faith, or based on reasonable suspicion. And a person can only sue if they are found innocent, which means that if the person reported is guilty, they cannot sue anyone anyway.

So, the only people that the John Doe bill would protect (who are not already protected) are those acting in bad faith, based on illegal prejudice, or for purposes of harassment.

WHY would you want to protect someone who is trying to engage in harassment against innocent people?

It's bad law that's been tried at other times, and it's always been a disaster. Unless you definition of "tearing this country apart" means actually enforcing constitutional requirements.

You've got that right but the rank and file aren't smart enough to realize it . It would really be great if we could get to a time when"both" parties were for America, instead of their own selfish interests, ( notice I said "both" parties ) No I am not stumping for pre 1930's Ron Paul either.

Yes.
The Democrats are supporting the Terrorists.
But they think it will benefit the Democrat Party in the long run.
Money & Power, is all the Democrats care about.
